Companion: Elder Xiayawong
April 1, 2013
Hey Guys!
I’m so sad you didn’t last week letter it was so good! In
order to review really quick. Last Sunday was hilarious we had a sister named
Sis Bow who gave a talk and gave the story of Peter catching a ton of fish
cause Jesus told him where to throw the net and then Peter jumps in the water
and swims to shore and she’s like "he jumped like right of the boat, he didn’t
even look for crocodiles or anything! He just jumped!" so funny! And then
after we were practicing singing and other prep for a family history fireside
and there is this one sister Sis Jaa who I met when she was just barely
baptized when I came on switch offs here as a greenie, since then she had gone
less active but Elder Xaiyawong went and helped her come back, and started
teaching her husband. She is way funny and the two of us get along really well.
Anyway for this practice I don’t know what was up but like every little thing
was hilarious we got to the point where we couldn’t breathe we were laughing so
hard! It was great! This Sunday we had the fireside that we were practicing for
and I got to be an angel again I guess I’m just so angelic haha for the
fireside there were 7 people that were pretending to be an ancestor who had
died and telling about their life it was way cool, and I choose Great-Grandpa
Cahoon very appropriate especially because today is his birthday! The fireside
went really well we had 2 investigators there and the actors felt the spirit
the first one got up and got half way through and started crying and soon
almost everyone in the room was in tears! There was a way good spirit and
feeling there the spirit of Elijah is so compelling! The missionaries also sang
"I love to see the temple" I love that song so much! Thank you for
making that a family tradition I really do love to see the temple! I really
miss going there too!
We got to do some service for our first counselor we went
over and cut his lawn it was way fun He has a 5 year old whose name is Effy he
is just like Preston back in the day! So awesome he is an absolute bundle of
fun we had so much fun together! It wasn’t really anything crazy long like 6 inches
to a foot (that’s nothing in Thailand where you have got elephant grass like 10
ft tall!) the only trick was there are no lawn mowers in this country! All he
had were two pairs of hedge shears! After an half hour of struggling with that
we found out he actually did have a weed whacker but it was out of string so we
strung up some metal cable and it worked like a dream! haha so bush league I
felt like a redneck!
This week we also had zone conference and it was absolutely
incredible everything was exactly what I needed to hear, learn, and apply! It
was all about small and simple things using time wisely and repentance. Awesome
right! Repentance was wonderful President didn’t call us out or anything there haven’t
been any big obedience problems in the mission. But rather he talked about how
great a blessing it is and the miracle of forgiveness and that we have to live
it daily in order to help the people we teach experience true conversion. We
also had a training from the AP's about the small and simple things and they
challenged us to basically make a no matter what list. Now where have I heard
that? Mum why are you so wonderfully inspired? And why am I so foolishly
stubborn?! Well now I’m doing it and I also have the opportunity to repent.
Mum- that picture you sent is beautiful! Jackson is such a
cutie and has probably the sweetest last name ever! BTW is that pronounced Hero
Power? awesome! Ooh I know the answer for this one Elder Evans told us when he
came here! For the large group meetings and devotionals they will be held in
the Marriot Center! And he added it’s gonna be pretty full! I am way excited
and nervous, that’s nuts the Elder Wood, Elder Sloan and I will all be training
at the same time!! What are the odds? I can’t believe Elder Wood is almost done,
that’s insane! His family and Esther must be way excited!
Oh hey for language Elder Xaiyawong can pray in English way
good! He just started last week but every prayer he improves so much! He really
works hard at English he is asking me questions all the time and I’m learning a
ton of Thai trying to answer him. I am also seizing my opportunity to learn Lao
we picked up some Laotian books of Mormon that we had ordered. Reading the book
of Mormon helps language so much my tones are still way rough but I can read it
and understand everything I read in lao oh and I can pray too! Its way fun
exchanging languages our companionship has 3 and it’s fun to switch around with
them.
Sounds like you guys had a wonderful time in Raymond hey
kaela sorry about your drivers test sounds like dad taught you the California
stop haha!
It is ridiculously hot out its like 40 degrees every day! My
greenie is going to die!!! Never mind my greenie I’m going to die!!!!
I love you guys heaps and bunches and oodles and lots!!!
Elder Cahoon
P.S. Hey Becky and Ricky! Ricky are you teaching at high
school? You’re a brave man! That’s sweet about rugby. Hey my last companion
broke his collar bone more times than you did he broke it 5 times! But somehow
he didn’t have to get a plate like you that’s cause Pilkington’s go big or go
home! Love you guys!
