Finding the Joy in the simple things

Area: Chiang Rai
Companion: Elder Hill
July 28, 2013

Hey XD

This week was lots of fun! I don’t think I ever told you but Elder Hill gave a talk in sacrament meeting last week and he did awesome! he talked for like 10 mins! he’s such a boss. Hey other news I bought a ukulele and its way nicer than my last one but it was even cheaper I scored a sick deal. Elder Hill is quite the gifted musician and he’s teaching me a bunch cause he actually knows what he is doing! He is going to buy one today and then we are going to have a P-Day jam sesh! This week we found an orange dog some one took like their lap dog and died it bright orange! It looks hilarious! Our street contacting is going way better and we found a couple solid people and . . . A FAMILY! so excited I love families so much! We also had a guy just walk into church and he’s interested and he stayed for all three hours it was way sweet! We had a way good activity on reading the book of Mormon before Christmas and we are planning to do a mini trek like we did in our stake except do it all in only 3 hours! It is going to be awesome I have never ever heard of anybody doing anything like a trek in Thailand its going to rock!! BTW it has been pouring, like coming down in sheets for like 12 hours straight! There has been soo much rain this week we have been soaked for the past 3 days! Oh ya I just took a mid email bathroom break and in the urinals here they put slices of lime to deodorize it soo funny! Oh Thailand! That’s our new thing whenever something crazy happens or something that doesn’t make sense we say "because Thai" and laugh! We started a new thing too the P-Day tie its quite simple but brings so much joy you find an absolutely hideous tie you know the one that looks like the machine exploded and you wear it all day! We are definitely finding the Joy in the simple things out here and it’s so fun. We also went and cut sis A's grass again with machetes so exhausting but she came to church and this time brought her whole family and we got to give her daughter a blessing! Love you heaps!

Ben - numbers look like this 12345 haha but there are Thai numbers that they use lots and they look like this pretty cool right! Dude your reading is so good everybody in Thailand has a goal to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover before Christmas to be gift to Christ and so I started over where I was in the Thai Book of Mormon and I’m going to do it and I’m almost finished first Nephi again but this time I understand so much more!

Kendra - I LOVE chilling in cars driving around and just cruising to awesome music! You never want to leave southern Alberta its way fun!

Mum - That’s so awesome that they are back! Alexander sure is growing up. I love Great Grandma too tell her I miss her! That’s good that she can just relax now. hahaha That is the best gift I have ever heard of that is hilarious! That is crazy about the Brooks tons of stuff happening all so exciting! No way I had a dream about you guys too last night actually. I was back home and it was my first day back and I was pretty miserable everything made me Thailand and I just cried and cried and I couldn’t speak Thai to anyone and I was so happy when I woke up and I remembered I was still in Thailand and I still have the better part of a year before I return. I really do love my family and I think of you all and pray for you often but I really love it here and thinking of going home just makes me sad. However this dream and this email have motivated me to record better my stay here cause I want to remember it for the rest of my life even when I am oceans away.
