Area: Roi-Et
Companion: Elder Yuen
August 19, 2013
Hi Everybody!
I’m back in the Essan! And I couldn’t be happier! I have
also been called to be the new Zone Leader and I am serving with Elder Yuen, he
is from Irvine, California close to Anaheim, and he is awesome! He was Elder
Gilley's companion in the MTC so he is 2 transfers older than me! Ok but here's
the crazy bit, ready (probably not) We are a district of 6 here in Roi-et the
other 2 companion-ships whitewashed in one is Elder Tatton who is in Elder Yuen's
group, and his son Elder Thomas fresh from the MTC, then the Sisters are
(alright hold onto your socks) Sister Monica Painter! (ya that’s right Caroline’s
roommate from BYU that we went to festival of colours with) and she is training
her daughter Sis Packard from Texas (unfortunately she has no accent) Cool
right!
Last Monday for our last P-Day we went ostrich riding and it
was legit way fun! ha such a hoot! I’ve got some great pics but the computer won’t
let me load them so I guess that will have to wait! That night we had our last
FHE it was way fun but I had to tell everyone I was leaving :( Then Tuesday we
had English showcase and for dessert we had root-beer floats so good but
everyone liked freaked out when we said it was root BEER but after we explained
there was no alcohol involved they settled down haha That morning it was way
sad Sis Bu one of my favourite members called during studies and she was
sobbing not wanting me to go so sad but we took her to teach with us that night
and had that amazing experience that I talked about to pres. Then Wednesday we
waited at the house almost an hour for the taxi and almost missed the bus we
had to run with my luggage and bike to get it and a bunch of members saw us off
but I left my suit jacket at the church up there! argh! Thursday was transfers
way fun as always! Elder Hill's new trainer is only on transfers 4! They are
going to have a ton of fun! We were way sad to part ways though he even shed a
tear or two so we hugged it out and I assured him all would be well he is going
to be such a great missionary, he already is! Also I saw a bunch of members
from Pakkret again I saw Bro art and Sis nong bought me breakfast and then Sis
ging bought us lunch those two are angels I love them so much they are so cute!
It so fun to be able to communicate fluently with them now they were blown away
by how well I could speak!
The house up here in roi-et is way nice all 4 elders live in
the same place, I got a haircut today which was good it was getting long. I
bought a Chiang Rai football jersey its way cool and my favourite color bright
orange like my hat back home. That team is huge up in Chiang Rai they are such
big fans everybody is wearing a jersey all over the place! I had a bit of
scaring experience amidst writing this email I got some diarrhea hit me (which
is such a common occurrence its honestly ridiculous!) and the only option was a
squatter and to make matters worse not only was there no toilet paper there was
no butt sprayer either just a big bucket of water with a bowl thing to flush
and rinse, well I think your imagination can fill in the rest but it was one of
those that you can laugh about later but in the moment its rather dreadful!
haha I love Thailand!!! I love you guys and I’m glad you’re having such a great
time in Utah Selena Gomez concerts and the like!
Love you tons!
Elder Cahoon
P.S. (Mum's note, thought I would add the end of this little email chat we happened to have with Elder Cahoon when we caught him online this week. He had previously shared a concern about his shoe situation and we were asking about sending some. He took 3 pair with him, bought a pair since he has been there... the mission is hard on shoes, haha. This is his reply. Our family considers it the miracle of the shoes.)
haha I'm having a hard time finding shoes that fit over here,
those street cars I bought are totally falling apart there is like holes in
them and the seams are busted they look like legit mission shoes now the only
problem is I'm not done yet! But here at the house I found a pair of way sweet
ecco's that are in great condition that fit like a glove they were left behind
by a dying elder! Awesome right!
